When Alex leaps into the air and falls perfectly into a roll, the once bored panel of judges stare on wide eyed at her audacity and talent. The dance at the end of Flashdance is incredibly impressive. It’s a sappy ending to a sappy movie, but that’s the point of Dirty Dancing, to throw out the old conventions and just have fun. Not only does this scene between Johnny and Baby show some serious chemistry, but the dance itself is enough to get choked up over. Be sure to leave a comment sharing your favorites! Below are some of my favorite dances from feature films. Dancing is not always utilized to motivate a film (all that grinding in the 2011 Footloose didn’t do much for me) but when used correctly, it can become the highlight of the movie. Whether it be Annabelle Moore doing the Butterfly Dance in 1894, or John Travolta doing the Twist 100 years later, watching people groove on the silver screen can be exciting, moving, and sometimes hilarious. Dancing was one of the first subjects of motion pictures back in the 20th century, and remains to be a large part of many modern films.
